Through a study of of 65 workplace incentives, it was discovered that the techniques that have the greatest motivational impact in the workplace were practiced the least often, even though they are easier and less expensive to use.

The results found that these top motivators were continually forgotten by workplaces:

  1. Personal Thanks - 58% of employees said they didn't receive this.
  2. Written Thanks - 76% of employees reported not receiving this.
  3. Promotion for Performance - 78% of employees said this was missing.
  4. Public Praise - 81% of employees said this was lacking in their office.
  5. Morale Building Meetings - 92% of employees said this was absent from their work.
