Team Huddles Score Big
By Renée Eaton

If you're like our business, you're busy. When you're not dealing with clients, working on projects or writing reports, you're checking your phone messages or returning e-mails. This leaves little time to find out what your colleagues are up to or where the company is heading.

Often, we get so caught up in our everyday work that we forget to take a breath and look at what's happening around us. This can cause a company to lose focus.

While an in depth staff meeting is a good idea, it is often hard for people to lose several hours at a time and scheduling these becomes a nightmare when more and more people become involved.

What we suggest for our clients are team "huddles." These mini-meetings are scheduled for once a week and take no more than 10-15 minutes. No one sits, so it helps keep them short. Within these few minutes you briefly discuss ongoing projects, deadlines, requirements and needs, as well as what is happening with the company as a whole.

These quick, concise meetings ensure everyone is in the loop and keep you on track to meeting your goals. Why don't you try instituting a team "huddle" in your department or company? You'll be sure to score.
